I have previously undertaken workplace training or an apprenticeship. Does this count as prior study or training?

Industry or workplace training at or equivalent to New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) level 3 or above counts as prior study and is included when determining eligibility.

Credits that have been awarded in the workplace, including on-the-job or industry training, count towards previous achievement because you have had the benefit of the training and that demonstrates you are not a first-time learner.

However, the following is not included in measures of prior study:

  • Any credits achieved as part of any work-based programme that consists of fewer than 120 credits (that are reported after 1 January 2018).
  • Tertiary education covered by the Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund between 1 July 2020 and 31 December 2022.
