What do I do if I’m eligible for Fees Free, but I’ve already applied for a Student Loan?

Please confirm your eligibility status by entering your National Student Number (NSN) on the Fees Free home page.

If your eligibility status is 'Yes', you don't need a student loan for your compulsory fees. If you’re eligible for Fees Free and doing eligible study or training, your fees will be paid directly to your tertiary education organisation (TEO) by the Tertiary Education Commission.

If StudyLink has not paid your TEO yet, you can get in touch with StudyLink to cancel or change your application. For contact information, go to the StudyLink website.

If StudyLink has already paid your TEO, you don't need to do anything. Your TEO will refund StudyLink, and the amount you borrowed for compulsory course fees will be reversed off your Student Loan.
